My van is a stock 1983.5 Vanagon Westfalia Campmobile.

At the same time I added the TV, I also placed a second battery in the 2nd Vanagon battery box. The way I chose to install the second battery was the simplest way, "Plus to Plus/Negative to Negative", just like if you were to charge the original main/starter battery if it had gone dead.

I've tried to show photos of everything I purchased. Please study the photos. Total cost for the TV &  installation was under $200.00. The battery and install was well under $150.00.

I highly recommend buying the TV model with the DVD player. Viore purchased from Walmart.Com. The size and picture quality are well worth it when compared to a stand alone DVD player.

The challenge to this TV is over air reception. Of the variety of channels that are out there: what I've found in the two weeks I have used it in the San Fran Bay Area, is this: The higher I go in elevation the better the reception of many channels. I find using the DTV setting superior to the TV setting.

The flip down plastic case was purchased from the "Container Store", see photo. Reinforce with tape all plastic hinges. I used velcro in combination with a small chain to support the TV case when flipped up. The chain is connected and runs between the two ceiling finish screws in that location. Velcro was also used. Make sure the ceiling contact paper is not loose. The center screw was screwed through the velcro strip in that location.
